As superintendent of public works, Matthew is responsible for every aspect of the construction equipment process, including specifying, budgeting and procurement, through maintenance and disposal.
He was the youngest superintendent of public works when he was appointed four years ago. His appointment “shattered the stigma that all Superintendents have to be an ‘older’ candidate,” says Lee Kearns, labor crew leader.
Professional accomplishments: He manages $30 million is infrastructure projects for the village. In his four years, he has reduced the overall budget of his department while providing more services to the public. He also upgraded outdated equipment in the fleet.
Favorite activity: Being a dad to my three children.
Extracurricular: Volunteer firefighter for the Farmingville Fire Department for 20 years.
Favorite vacations: Traveling to areas that are not on the tourist maps, to see how the rest of the world lives.
