Justin is part owner of Chaparral Construction, formed in 1978 by his father and grandfather. At 16, he was exempted through the Department of Labor to operate heavy equipment, and has worked full-time with the company since graduating high school. The company is a leader in fish habitat and erosion control.
Professional accomplishments: Happy Meadows Project, a fishery restoration project on the South Platte River, was recognized by the U.S. Forest Service with Rise to the Future award.
Off the clock: Collecting antique tractors, and raising Boer goats.
Extracurricular: I volunteer for two local fire departments, serving as a lieutenant with La Veta fire district. I teach basic fire safety at the local school.
