Ditch Witch replaced its RT40 trencher with the Tier 4-Interim-compliant release of the new RT45 for cutting 4- to 5-foot trenches. The RT45 runs the same sized trencher, but at 39 horsepower its Deutz F3M2011 engine gives up about 8 percent of the power of the RT40, and the 4,200-pound basic unit weight is about 600 pounds lighter than the predecessor. The RT45 offers a choice of attachments, including a centerline or dual-position trencher, vibratory plow, rotary saw, combination trencher/plow, and backhoe.
