Two Dead After Mobile Crane and Truck Collision

An Ephrata man was killed in a fiery crash in Maryland after a pickup truck swerved into his lane Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Maryland State Police said James Hutson, 61, who was driving a mobile crane north on Route 83, died after striking the truck just after 2 p.m. in Baltimore County near York Road. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames after the crash.

Hutson and the driver of the pickup truck, Kevin Johnson, 53, of Virginia, were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The crash injured four other people who were transported to WellSpan Hospital in York County.

Northbound lanes on Interstate 83 were closed for more than five hours after the crash, according to police. They are still investigating the crash.
