A construction worker was rescued nine hours after he fell 10 to 12 feet into a “void” at a demolition site in Louisville, Kentucky, according to the Louisville Fire Department.
The area into which he fell required shoring as debris was falling into the space. He was trapped under gravel and pieces of concrete, according to an Associated Press report.
The report said rescuers had to remove debris by hand and were able to use a vacuum excavator for smaller debris.
The worker was transferred to the University of Louisville Hospital.
