A construction crane collapsed into a home being built in a neighborhood development, killing one person in the Little River area, according to Horry County Fire Rescue and Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

Anibal Sanchez Pelayo, 19, died on the scene from traumatic injuries after being struck by a crane, Willard said. A construction crane fell on a residential property on Cambria Court around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Willard and Horry County Fire Rescue.

The house was being built in the Bridgewater neighborhood, across S.C. 9 from the McLeod Seacoast Hospital.

Sanchez Pelayo was living in Galivants Ferry at the time of his death.

Horry County Police and OSHA are investigating the case.

Around 4:15 p.m., the crane was gone but the wall to a house under construction had fallen.

Horry County Fire Rescue and Horry County Police responded to entrapment at the residential property.
