Komatsu D37-23, D39-23 Crawler Dozers Lowers Fuel Usage

Komatsu D37-23 and D39-23 crawler dozers have been upgraded with Tier 4-Interim SAA4D95LE-6 diesels that cut fuel consumption by up to 10 percent over predecessor models while retaining the same horsepower ratings: 89 and 105 horsepower, respectively, at 2,200 rpm. Operating weights range from 18,386 to 21,363 pounds, depending on configuration and model. Long track EX and low-ground-pressure PX models are available. A variable-flow turbocharger, direct-flow air filter, high-pressure common rail fuel injection, and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) result in precise air flow management and more complete combustion, eliminating the need for a DPF, Komatsu says. Forward cab design and a steeply sloped hood provide more room for operators and move them closer to the blade than in predecessor machines. A newly designed PAT blade has standard adjustable blade pitch that allows the operator to adjust the aggressiveness of the cutting edge.  Komatsu’s ergonomically designed Palm Command Control System (PCCS) gives operators maximum control, and thumb push buttons simplify transmission speed setting shifts which are indicated graphically on the monitor.
