March 24, 2023

Hino Trucks will offer electric versions of its M and S Series medium-duty trucks branding them Me Series and Le Series. The first two models are the Class 5 M5e cab over and Class 6 L6e conventional models, equipped with battery capacities of 138kwH and 220kwH, respectively.

EV vocational options including delivery and final mile applications will also be available and were developed through Hino Edge telematics metrics and drivers’ behaviors.

“[M]any of our customers want to add EVs to evaluate operational capabilities,” said Glen Ellis, president, in a statement “Over the past several years, we have made significant strides in the push toward electrification. This strategic collaboration with SEA Electric [RS4] is part of our plan to provide powertrain options to meet the needs for our customers and markets throughout the United States.”

Hino Trucks dealers are already high voltage trained and are capable to service electric vehicles, according to the company. In addition, Hino is working to build infrastructure to support the trucks with Hino INCLUSEV, available through its dealer network. [RS5]
