Putzmeister and Volvo Trucks have fielded a battery-electric concrete pump that can reach to about 138 feet. The truck will be delivered to Swerock, a Swedish construction firm.
The truck was unveiled during a press conference at Bauma, in Munich, Germany. According to the manufacturers, the electric pumper can drive up to 30 miles and then pump approximately 65 cubic yards of concrete without any need for charging. For longer distances, or for larger quantities of concrete, a Combined Charging System (CCS2) charging solution can be installed at the site, allowing the truck to keep pumping concrete while it recharges.
“With this battery-electric pump truck, customers can have a zero-exhaust emission solution, low-noise operation, and an efficient process thanks to the work-while-charging capacity,” said Christoph Fitz, head of sales, Volvo Trucks in Germany, in a statement.
