The SW652ND double-drum roller from Sakai America oscillates or vibrates on both drums simultaneously. Each drum is controlled independently, which enables the roller to to achieve the required compaction faster on thin and thick lift asphalt applications, according to the company. The model's vibration mode is typical of other Sakai compactors, offering a high frequency of 4,020 vpm. The more gentle oscillation mode offers a new drum motion designed to neither over-compact the mat nor fracture the aggregate, which is especially useful when compacting thin lifts and in gaining density at the joints and during finish passes. Estimated list price: $115,000 to $135,000.
