Driver Dies After Crashing Through Work Zone in Las Vegas

Jan. 23—A 20-year-old Las Vegas man was killed Wednesday when he drove through a construction zone at "reckless speeds" and his car overturned, according to Metro Police.

The crash, which involved two other vehicles, happened about 7 p.m. on Paradise Road, north of Kitty Hawk Way, police said.

The area, near Harry Reid International Airport, is under construction and subject to lane mergers and closures, police said.

The man, who was driving a 2019 Dodge Challenger, made an abrupt, unsafe lane change and hit a raised concrete divider, police said. The car struck two other vehicles as it overturned, police said.

The driver of the Challenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name was not released, pending notification of his family, police said.

One other person, a 46-year-old Las Vegas woman, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
