Worker Caught in Boring Machine

Rescue personnel extricated a worker caught in a boring machine in an Interstate 70 construction zone in Ohio.

The Zanesville Timers Recorder reports units from the Zanesville, Ohio, police and fire departments as well as the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the area near mile marker 155 in downtown Zanesville after reports of a worker caught in the machine, according to the call report from the Zanesville Police Department.

About an hour later, the first of two medical helicopters landed at the scene, according to the report. A surgery team from Genesis Hospital was also on scene.

Authorities said Christopher R. Siefker, 43, of Baltimore, was freed and taken to a hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
