JCB has fielded a mobile hydrogen refueller to support hydrogen-powered construction equipment. With two prototypes in its offering—a backhoe loader and telehandler—the company’s mobile refueller will allow fleets to fuel up on site.
On-site fueling is employed by nearly all fleets, and the company said many responses to its hydrogen-powered equipment development centered on refueling issues.
“Today we have an answer with our new mobile hydrogen refuelling system, which allows hydrogen to be taken from on-site tube trailers and distributed to machines by our refueller as they work on the job site,” said Lord Bamford, chairman, in a prepared statement. “This is no different to today when diesel is taken…to refuel machines.
JCB has a team of 100 engineers working on its hydrogen project, an investment of about $110 million.
