The AX17 Vermeer brush chipper weighs about 10,000 pounds and is powered by a 130 horsepower Cummins Tier 4-F diesel engineIt has a 26-inch drum with two knives, horizontal offset feed rollers, and a fixed infeed table.
An intelligent feed system includes Vermeer SmartFeed and SmartCrush, and provides 6,500 pounds of pull-in power. SmartCrush increases down pressure on the material being fed and assists when feeding forked or branchy material. SmartFeed is a feed-sensing control system that monitors engine rpm. It automatically stops, reverses, and shifts material to help reduce the need for labor at the rear of the machine.
A full-function remote allows operaters to control the feed rollers, move forward or in reverse, stop the machine, control the infeed crush feature, and rotate the chipper’s chute while away from the machine.
The patented winch boom provides 3,2000 pounds of pull-in force and can be raised out of the way when not in use. A patented bottom feed stop bar is mounted over the feed table. The four-position upper feed control bar has dual stop positions and allows the operator to stop the feed rollers and select forward or reverse operations.
