Astec Phoenix Phantom burner, for use in the hot-mix asphalt industry, has a new injection method that allows more complete mixing of air and gaseous fuel for more efficient burning that lowers emissions, the company says. Instead of using gas injection tubes, the Phantom injects gas into 3-inch-diameter turbulent mixing tubes as air passes through them. This mixing enables the unit to achieve low emissions without using flue-gas recirculation.
