The Stumpex stump grinder for skid steers and backhoe loaders is a low-speed cutting attachment that can work with as little as 20 gpm of hydraulic flow and 2,500 psi of hydraulic pressure.
An EXC version provides the same low-speed stump grinding on excavators 16 tons and larger. The Stumpex can cut any species of stump 10 to 28 inches in diameter and can cut up to 20 inches deep in a single pass, the company says. Larger diameter stumps may be processed by making additional passes. Operating at 7 to 17 rpm, the unit grinds stumps with minimal discharge, leaving a small clean-up area. It does not have carbide cutting tools, reducing maintenance costs.
