Komatsu to Acquire Mining Equipment Group

Dec. 20, 2022

Komatsu will acquire GHH Group GmbH, a manufacturer of underground mining, tunnelling, and special engineering equipment.

GHH, headquartered in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, is part of the Schmidt Kranz Group. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2023.

The company makes loaders and articulated dump trucks for use in the mid-seam mas mining, narrow vein, and low-profile market segments, according to Komatsu.

The acquisition will include GHH’s factories and rebuild facilities.

“We are very excited about this acquisition as it represents a great opportunity for Komatsu to expand its offerings for underground mining equipment and accelerate new product development through synergies with Komatsu’s existing team and product offerings,” said Peter Salditt, president/CEO, Komatsu Mining Corp., in a statement.” By adding GHH’s factories and rebuild facilities in key markets in Europe, South Africa, India, and Chile. We also aim to strengthen production and service capabilities for our customers.”
