Doosan DX490LC-3 and DX530LC-3 excavators replace the DX480 and DX520 respectively. Each has a 6-cylinder, 389-horsepower engine meeting Tier 4-Interim standards. Swing torque has increased 21 percent, bucket digging force by 3 percent, and lifting capacity is up 2 percent. A variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT) increases boost pressure at lower engine rpm. The Electronic Power Optimizing System (EPOS) provides optimum power and fuel efficiency via four work modes, auto-idle and machine diagnostics. Cooling system upgrades include two variable-speed hydraulic fans, and the system, on average, has a 10 to 15 percent greater cooling capacity.
