Wacker Neuson has introduced its first telehandler to the North American market. The new TH522, says the company, is a ground-engaging telehandler that offers a versatile three-machine-in-one concept. The TH522 is designed to be used with ground-engaging attachments and, according to Wacker Neuson, can work as wheel loader to dig and carry, a skid steer capable of using attachments, and a telehandler with a lift height of
16-feet 7-inches and an operating capacity of 4,100 pounds.
Powered by a 60-horsepower, Tier 4-Final Perkins engine, the TH522 has a standard top travel speed of 19 mph and an auxiliary-hydraulic flow of 18 gpm. Also standard is a universal attachment plate and a quick-connect hydraulic connection block, allowing the TH522 to accommodate most wheel-loader and skid-steer attachments.
An ergonomically designed joystick allows the operator to control all boom lift/lower, boom telescope/retract, and roll/tilt functions, as well as the differential lock and third- circuit auxiliary-hydraulic controls.
The TH522 uses Wacker Neuson’s Vertical Loading System, which allows the operator to choose between two loading functions: bucket mode and fork mode. In bucket mode, the boom automatically retracts when the operator lowers in order to keep the load as close to the front axle as possible to minimize tipping situations.
In fork mode, the boom extends and retracts automatically when the operator raises the arm in order to keep the load in a vertical plane. By operating similar to a forklift, says the company, the operator does not have to adjust the boom while loading. In addition, a digital display monitors the load of the machine and both visually and audibly alerts the operator if the machine is at risk of tipping.
