Articulated Dump Trucks, Off-Highway

Articulated dump trucks, or ADTs, are used for earthmoving projects. ADTs are usually paired and matched with crawler excavators for mass excavation projects for efficient movement of dirt.

An articulated dump truck differs from a straight dump truck in that it is actually two pieces. The cab is connected to the dump body with an articulation joint, which enables the two pieces to move relatively independently of each other. It is especially useful on rough terrain and can handle slippery conditions and inclines.
