Volvo P7110B, P7170B Asphalt Pavers

The P7110B tracked and P7170B wheeled asphalt pavers attain Tier 4-Final with a Volvo D8J engine with continuous passive regeneration. The pavers are 5 percent more fuel efficient than the predecessors, the company says.

The pavers have 360-degree, unobstructed visibility, and the low deck height of the predecessors has been maintained. The hood height and profile remain the same with the new engine technology, but the length of the cover has been increased and a removable side cover added in order to allow access to the emissions components.

Side air vents and a higher seat have been added to the operator station, and two control consoles allow for the pavers to be operated from either side. Consoles rotate and tilt to align with the adjustable seats.

Two-stage, 42-inch hydraulic tunnels extend with the simple press of a button, which allow head-of-material control without the need for bolt-on extensions, the company says. Available screeds include factory-installed Omni 318, Omni 1000, and Ultimat 200 screeds, as well as dealer-installed Wedgelock screeds. The quick coupling system allows extensions to be added or removed in minutes.

Four standard ultrasonic sensors—two above the conveyor and two above the auger— automatically regulate the proper delivery and flow of material to match the paver’s speed. The tow point indicators have been updated to increase readability and accuracy. High contrast scales are now located at the tow point with a red indicator for accuracy. The larger scale is easily readable from the paver or screed operators’ positions.
