Volvo ECR50, ECR58 Excavators

March 9, 2021

Volvo ECR50 compact excavator is a new model, and the Volvo ECR58 compact excavator has been upgraded. Both are short-swing compact excavators.

The zero-tail-swing Volvo ECR50 compact excavator has an operating weight of 11,133 pounds and is powered by a 41.8-horsepower D2.4H engine. It digs to 11 feet 1 inch and has breakout force of 8,134 lb.-ft.

The short-swing ECR58 compact excavator features an operating weight of 12,875 pounds, dig depth of 13 feet, and breakout force of 9,422 lb.-ft. It has a 48-horsepower D2.6H engine.

The ECR50 features reinforced digging equipment, undercarriage, and hoods for increased durability. A 50-hour greasing interval, wide-opening engine hood, and easily accessible service points simplify maintenance.

The next-generation ECR58 has a 10 percent increased lifting capacity compared to the D-series predecessor. It also has 5 percent greater bucket breakout force and 7 percent greater arm tear-out force.

Both excavators have a fuel-saving Eco mode, engine auto-idle, and auto-engine shutdown as standard features. Eco mode can reduce fuel consumption by up to 10 percent, according to Volvo. Auto-engine shut down reduces idling, thereby lowering maintenance costs which leads to potentially higher resale value and lower total cost of ownership.
