Volvo DD110B, 120B, 140B Double Drum Compactors

May 1, 2013

The DD110B, DD120B and DD140B double-drum compactors have eight dual amplitude settings for adjusting drum forces when material depth changes, then automatically match that setting with an ideal frequency, Volvo says. Units have Volvo D4 engines that meet Tier 4-Interim standards. A closed-loop hydrostatic parallel circuit to both drums, which are fitted with heavy-duty radial piston motors, moves the machines at travel speeds up to 7 mph; vibration automatically engages or disengages when pre-set speed thresholds are reached. Two independent water systems, each with its own primary and back-up spray bar, provide consistent water flow to the drum surfaces.
