Vuzix Corp., a supplier of smart glasses and augmented reality (AR) technology, announced on Friday that the Vuzix M4000 Smart Glasses were recently used to perform a successful worksite inspection via drone used by a Barcelona-based provider of geologic-related drone services.
The Rochester, New York-based company said the combined technology was used to access hard-to-reach areas and bring a different perspective of the study area to the end-customers, including the inspection of cranes, elevated facilities, and various machinery.
"With the Vuzix M4000 Smart Glasses...I was able to perform a complex flight in very narrow areas and camera view to ensure the best capture of the facilities I was monitoring,” said the geology group's Fernando Borràs Castelló. “In summary, I was able to perform my work in a much safer way as I was in visual control of the drone every moment."
The M4000 utilizes Vuzix see-through high brightness optical Waveguides and is a light weight, ruggedized IP67 wearable computer designed for hands free use in physically demanding environments. The company’s products include personal display and wearable computing devices that offer users a high-quality viewing experience, solutions for mobility, wearable displays, and augmented reality.
