The JT40 horizontal directional drill has a 160-horsepower Cummins QSB4.5 diesel engine. The two-speed, rotational drive system produces 5,500 lb.-ft. of torque, and the unit holds 600 feet of drill pipe. Thrust and pullback force is 40,000 pounds, with a carriage travel speed of 180 fpm.
Two 7-inch LED displays show critical machine functions and operations, and a real-time carriage-position indicator tells the operator the exact carriage location.
An add-a-pipe design allows operators to manually insert multiple sticks of drill pipe once the pipe box is empty. Fold-out, lift-off service doors provide access to daily maintenance points.
