Truck hits, kills road worker

Accident happened in Ohio

A construction worker was killed after being struck by a heavy truck driving through a work zone on U.S. 35 in Riverside.

Local news reports identified the man as Jonathan Schmidt, 38. He worked for a contractor on the Ohio Department of Transportation project.

Photos show a damaged JLG telescoping boom but do not indicate whether or not Schmidt was in the machine when it was hit.
