A worker died on Tuesday as a result of extreme temperatures while he work on a moveable scaffolding on the side of the Omni Hotel in Providence, R.I. where he collapsed.
According to a report from Turnto10.com, co-workers tried to cool him down by pouring cold water on his face, and city firefighters had to help him down to the street.
The worker was given CPR, but he died at Rhode Island Hospital less than an hour after collapsing.
Following the event, Robert Sestito, OSHA's area director for Rhode Island told NBC 10 News that there is no standard on when it's too hot to work.
“There is not a magic number where we can say they can stop working," he said. "So, for instance, OSHA has a national emphasis program where we try and identify hazardous workplaces where workers are exposed to heat hazards and focus on those areas."
Investigations into the tragedy at the Omni hotel are ongoing.
