A telehandler operator working on an intersection at White Oak Drive and Houston Avenue in Houston, Texas, allegedly ran over a woman and her dog, leaving the woman seriously injured and her dog deceased.
Local investigators learned the woman was walking her dog, and crossing the street when the machine hit her, according to a news report on Click2houston.com.
Houston police said a witness confronted the driver and the worker parked the piece of machinery, and then got into his vehicle and took off. The driver was later pulled over and taken into custody on Interstate 45 and Main Street, according to the report.
At the time of the report, no charges had been filed.
