A driver in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was killed when his Mercedes ran into a telehandler on Sunday. According to a report by Sun Sentinel, the car ran into the forks, which were allegedly extended into the lane of traffic. The telehandler operator initially continued driving to a nearby construction site following the crash, but eventually returned and cooperated with authorities. He was later arrested.
The telehandler operator had been headed to 230 Las Olas Circle at Intercostal, where the Skanska construction group recently built a new parking garage. According to the report, the intersection is a frequent site of fender benders and more serious collisions.
