An accident at a Racine County, Wisconsin, construction site sent a southbound semi-truck into a concrete construction barrier, propelling the barrier into northbound traffic. According to the Journal Sentinel, the truck was attempting to change lanes within the zone when the accident occurred.
The barrier caused three vehicles to crash, and another semi to roll over and explode after attempting to avoid the accident.
The construction zone is part of an 18-mile Wisconsin DOT project to add lanes and modernize the freeway in Racine County. Although WSDOT said the zone followed protocol, drivers said they had “not felt safe traveling down the stretch of highway where the accident occurred,” according to the Journal Sentinel.
