Terex Advance Adds CNG Engine

March 12, 2014

Cummins ISX12G compressed natural gas engines are available in 350- 385- and 400-horsepower packages with torque settings of 1,450; 1,350; and 1,450 lb.-ft., respectively. Terex Advance offers the CNG engines in its entire line of standard and federal bridge formula mixers, from three to seven axles. The engines are ordered as part of the company’s glider truck program.

One 26x80-inch Type-4 CNG tank is mounted to each side of the rear frame, providing a capacity of 75 diesel equivalent gallons. The mounting approach has a spherical bearing design that allows for tank length and diameter expansion/contraction when filling. It also compensates for frame flexing in off-road conditions. Terex Advance removed up to 50 percent of internal steel from the new engine cowling, reducing truck weight and making available more payload capacity.
