Skycatch, a company offering an advanced drone image processing platform, has been powering the mapping portion of the additions to Microsoft’s new campus in Redmond, Washington. When the project is complete, the campus will provide a modern workplace and create greater collaboration and community, according to Microsoft.
The drone video featured below offers a unique view of the project. According to Microsoft, the images have fed into 3D models of the site which provide data to more effectively tackle challenges as they arise, and monitor progress.
According to the article, the project is coordinating over 100 different building information models containing over 2.8 million individual 3D building components.
Concrete from the demolition would be enough to build 1.3 Empire State Buildings, according to Microsoft. In addition, 100 percent of the concrete is being recycled, and some of it will come back to the site for use in the new campus. Some recycled materials include carpets, ceiling tiles, outdoor lights, and turf from sports fields.
