Volvo Redesigns Platform on DD105 Vibratory Compactor
The DD105 double-drum vibratory compactor is built upon a pedestal frame that improves visibility. The 10-ton roller has front and rear 66-inch-wide drums. The 114-horsepower Tier 4-Final engine, combined with auto-idle and ECO mode, can reduce fuel consumption by up to 30 percent. Standard dual-amplitude settings allow the operator to adjust drum forces according to material depth, and an optional eight-amplitude setting adds more precise control.
Two optional intelligent-compaction systems are available: Volvo IC and Volvo IC with Density Direct. Both offer pass mapping, temperature mapping, and data storage features.
The pedestal frame design improves views of curbs and obstructions, Volvo says. From the adjustable seat, the operator has clear sightlines down to the drum and spray bars. Also featured are ergonomically positioned controls and joystick and offset steering. Anti Slip Control allows safely loading and unloading for transport without assist, and to propel on steeper grades or slopes without any slipping.
A state-of-the-art pressurized water system has triple filtration that provides uniform coverage with variable flow up, and features primary and backup pumps, primary and backup spray bars for each drum, hand-serviceable nozzles, and drum wipers.
