The new Caterpillar MH3250 and MH3260 material handlers feature mechanical variable-gauge undercarriages. The track gauge retracts to 10 feet, 7 inches, and extends to 12 feet, 2 inches. The MH3250 and MH3260 have a maximum reach of 52 feet 6 inches and 59 feet 1 inch. The cab also rises to a maximum elevation of 19 feet 9 inches.

Three different power modes–Power, Smart and Eco–are also featured on the handlers. Smart Mode matches engine and hydraulic power to working conditions, while Power Mode provides maximum power. Machine engines meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards and can run up to B20 biodiesel.

These material handlers operate at up to 8,530 feet above sea level and offer standard high-ambient temperature capability of 95 degrees fahrenheit and cold-start capability of -25 degrees fahrenheit. Auto warm-up reduces the time it takes for hydraulic oil warming in cold temperatures.

All fuel filters feature a 1,000-operating-hour change interval, and the air intake filter with precleaner lasts up to 1,000 hours. A hydraulic oil filter increases change intervals to 3,000 operating hours. New anti-drain valves keep the hydraulic oil clean during filter replacement. Operators can track filter life and maintenance intervals on the in-cab monitor.

All controls are positioned in front of the operator, and the left-hand console tilts up. The cab also features an air-suspension seat. A touchscreen monitor with jog-dial offers navigation of the intuitive operator controls. Using the new Operator ID function, different machine operators can store their specific joystick and preferred power mode settings, and the machine automatically recalls the settings based on the ID.

The upper-level service platform is made with an antiskid punch plate. In the event of a hydraulic service interruption, the cab can be safely lowered via one of two emergency cab lowering valves. Check valves on the boom and stick prevent reverse hydraulic oil flow to maintain the position of the front linkage.

Smaller cab pillars, combined with tempered windows and a flat engine hood, deliver visibility for the operator. With video feed displayed on the large touchscreen monitor, standard rearview and sideview cameras improve work area visibility. The cab design includes impact-resistant, safety laminated windshields that meet P5A standards.

New remote services capabilities including Remote Flash work around the production schedule to assure the machine operates with the most current version of on-board software.
