The EW240E material handler is a purpose-built machine for the waste and recycling market. The unit has a newly designed center frame, a reinforced undercarriage, 9-foot axles, and extra-wide outriggers.
Operating weight is 26 tons with Solideal twin tires, and a Tier 4-F Volvo D6 engine provides 173 horsepower. Straight boom is 21 feet 4 inches, and a gooseneck arm adds 16 feet 5 inches for a maximum reach of 36 feet 9 inches.
The cab can be raised more than 16 feet above ground and has double-damped cushioning. Arm-in limitation prevents collisions between the cab and grapple, Volvo says. Travel speed can reach 12.4 mph, and the L8 multifunction joystick has comfort drive control.
The company will provide a free year of ActiveCare Direct, and the Volvo Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty covers the frame, boom, and arm for the initial ownership period.
