Powered with the Honda GX390 engine, the EU7000is generator has been added to the Super Quiet Series. It uses electronic fuel injection for fuel efficiency, choke-less starting (via a one-touch, push button electric start switch), and longer operating times, compared with the model it replaces. The EU7000is, with a dry weight of 262 pounds, provides six hours of operation at rated load, or an estimated 18 hours at 25-percent load. Sound levels are approximately 60 dB(A) at rated load.
The new generator, says Honda, offers a maximum 7,000 volt-amperes of enhanced commercial-grade electricity with a waveform distortion factor of less than 2.5 percent. This translates, says the company, “into a generous amount of usable power available for a wide range of commercial and residential applications.” In addition, the new EU7000is incorporates Honda’s inverter technology, designed to provide “cleaner current” to power computers and sensitive electronic equipment that require consistent electrical current with a stable signal. An iMonitor digital display provides hours of use, performance data, battery-charging status, and on-board diagnostics. A wheel kit with large semi-pneumatic tires and folding handles, standard equipment, assist the new generator’s portability.
