The all-new Kubota RTV-XG850 Sidekick utility vehicle uses a 48-horsepower, water-cooled, gasoline engine and is capable of speeds to 40 mph. The engine’s Idle Speed Control and “highland correction” features are designed to provide stable power in any operating situation.
The RTV-XG850’s continuously variable transmission uses a centrifugal clutch (Kubota’s CVT Plus system) and pairs with the vehicle’s selectable, full-time, four-wheel-drive system. Handling features include speed-sensitive, electronic, power-steering; tuned, independent suspension (front and rear); and engine-assisted braking that provides retarding assistance during descents.
Equipped with a standard trailer hitch, towing capacity is 2,000 pounds, and payload capacity for the heavy-duty, steel cargo box is 15.2 cubic feet/1,000 pounds (California models differ). An electric/hydraulic lift is available for the cargo box. The Sidekick provides electrical power for a wide variety of equipment; the regulator and fully-shielded generator are controlled by a microcomputer to ensue stable power for attachments, including work lights, LED headlights, heater, or winch.
The ROPS uses shoulder guards, and half-doors deflect brush and other elements. An ergonomically designed, split-bench seat, designed to accommodate both driver and passenger, provides storage compartments beneath. Convenience features include a glove box, cup holder, and DC outlet. Available options include a premium audio system, LED headlights, sports roof, and bed extender for added cargo. The Sidekick is available in four colors: Kubota Orange; RealTree AP Camo; green; and black.
