Las Vegas Approves Tunnel to Airport

Oct. 21, 2021

Elon Musk’s Boring Company received the go-ahead from county officials to begin expanding the tunnel system currently serving the Convention Center to the Strip and the McCarran International Airport.

Clark County Nevada posted on its Twitter account that county commissioners had approved an agreement with the Boring Company to “establish and maintain a transportation system” that will go under the Las Vegas strip.

Users are transported underground in Tesla cars. The system has been operational between the Convention Center halls since June.

Under plans released by the Boring Company, the new expansion would cover 29 miles and include 51 stations, including stops at various hotels. The company says capacity will be 57,000 passengers in an hour.
