Komatsu Sales Up 34%

Komatsu reported six months sales of about $11.7 billion, up 34.8 percent from the approximately $8 billion reported in the first six months of fiscal year 2020. Komatsu’s fiscal year runs from April through March.

In the construction, mining, and utility equipment business, demand for both construction and mining equipment was strong around the world, except for China.

Profits for the first six months grew 125.9 percent from the corresponding period a year ago, to about $1.2 billion. This was mainly due to expanded sales volume and improved selling prices in many regions in the construction, mining, and utility equipment business.

The company also announced increases in its guidance for the year. It projection for net sales grew 8.7 percent to about $23.6 billion. Guidance for operating income also increased, by 25.3 percent, to about $2.9 billion.
