The 9-yard 944K wheel loader has a hybrid-electric drive system and a 536-horsepower PowerTech Tier 4-Interim engine. The hybrid-electric drive recaptures energy while slowing the loader. The engine delivers maximum fuel efficiency in Normal Mode, running in a limited speed range of 1,200 to 1,800 rpm. In Performance Mode, the engine runs at constant speed to power boom and bucket functions.
Bucket breakout force is 103,388 pounds, delivered to the 12-foot-wide, 9-cubic-yard bucket. Traction control automatically limits torque to any wheel when slippage occurs, and with enhanced rimpull control, the loader prevents tire spin and slicing, according to the company.
Cab noise is 72 decibels, with 108 decibels outside.
