John Deere 300G LC Hydraulic Excavator Delivers 19% More Horsepower

April 15, 2015

The 300G LC excavator replaces the 290G LC and delivers 19 percent more horsepower, 17 percent more swing torque, and larger hydraulic pumps than its predecessor. It features a 223-horsepower Tier 4-Final John Deere PowerTech PVS 6.8L engine with SCR and a DPF.

A larger hood is designed for improved engine access, and, for convenience, the nine-pin diagnostic connector was moved into the cab to reduce diagnostic testing time for technicians. Other improvements include single-side, ground-level fluid-filter service, with the engine-oil, fuel, and hydraulic pilot filters accessible on the right side of the machine.

Sensor mounting brackets are welded to the boom, arm, counterweight, and mainframe at the factory to enable installation of Topcon, Trimble, Leica, or other grade-reference systems. A programmable mode is also available and allows operators to program oil flow for thumb attachments through the monitor.

New handrails help maintain contact when climbing the upper structure to service the engine, says Deere, a feature designed to improve service accessibility and security. An optional light package now includes a hood light to facilitate service and fueling.
