The VM117D is powered by a 125-horsepower Tier 4-Interim JCB Ecomax engine that delivers up to a 10 percent fuel savings, the company says. Smooth drum or padfoot models are available for compaction of all soil types, and several compaction analysis systems are also available as options. The unit has an operating weight of 11 tons, and the standard smooth drum can be equipped with a two-piece shell kit for increased versatility.
According to JCB, significant enhancements have been made to the compaction specifications, including amplitude, frequency, centrifugal force, static linear load, and weight distribution. The Automatic Vibration Control automatic compaction control system, designed to avoid over-compaction at the end of each pass, is another standard feature.
