Weighing in at a maximum 6,900 pounds, the Hitachi ZX30U-5 is the sixth compact excavator in the company's lineup for the Americas. According to the company, “the new model will provide customers an alternative in the popular 3-to-4-metric-ton size class of compact excavators.” Standard features for the new model include a mechanical pattern changer, quick-connect coupler, and proportional auxiliary hydraulics plumbed to the end of the boom. The ZX30U-5 uses a 23.3 horsepower, Tier 4-Final Yanmar engine that uses no exhaust after-treatment. With an independent-swing boom and 360-degree rotation, the ZX30U-5 can work in tight spaces and is easy to load and transport between jobs, says Hitachi.
