The C Series motor grader lineup is now Tier-4 Final-compliant, including the G930C, G940C, G946C (AWD) and G960C. Volvo D8J engines provide three variable power ranges when equipped with a standard eight-speed transmission and eight variable power ranges when equipped with an optional 11-speed transmission. Preliminary tests show savings of up to 5 percent in fuel consumption.
The 38,510-pound G946C motor grader is now Tier 4-Final equipped, and features a heavy-duty circle, moldboard and drawbar, with a blade pull at base of 24,957 pounds. The company’s twin pinion driver provides the moldboard with up to 52,000 lb.-ft. of circle turn torque, while it is supported by 700 square inches of Duramide bearing surface. The exterior teeth in the grader’s circle turn system provide a large rotation circle. The new design also features a slide bearing, which holds the blade steady at full extension. In the drawbar system, the offset ball stud bolts to the drawbar to ensure it stays parallel to the ground when rotating. The system is able to accommodate changes to tire size or cutting edges, avoiding cutting or welding during servicing as well as providing optimal uptime, the company says.
