Models DV209 and DV210 high-frequency asphalt compactors are the among the newest additions to Case Construction Equipment’s compaction range. Featuring Tier 4-Interim engines, the new double-drum models have perating weights are 21,030 and 22,730 pounds, respectively, and both use a standard-width drum of just more than 66 inches. The standard frequency range is 42 to 55 hertz, and 46 to 67 hertz high frequency.
This capability, when combined with variable amplitude settings (.22 to .60 millimeters for the DV209, .33 to .60 millimeters for the DV210), allows the machines can be “dialed in,” says Case, to better handle both thinner lifts (low amplitude/high frequency) and thicker lifts (high amplitude/low frequency). Centrifugal force can also be dialed in (15,736 to 21,582 pounds for the DV209 and17,535 to 26,977 pounds for the DV210) to best match the thickness of the lift and the desired depth of compaction.
New features for the compactors, says Case, include more maneuverability in the operator compartment (the new operator station turns and slides through the entire width of the cab) to provide enhanced visibility to the drum surfaces and edges, as well as to the spraying bars. Large front and rear mirrors (with optional enclosed cab configuration) help ensure optimal visibility, says Case. Also new is color monitor/operator interface. Both machines feature large water and fuel tanks to allow working all day without fill-up.
Both the DV209 and DV210 are compatible with Case’s optional ACEforce asphalt compaction technology. ACEforce is a compaction-management and documentation system that provides measurement and evaluation of material stiffness and allows for continuous adjustment of speed, frequency and amplitude, depending on compaction measurement. The system is designed to improve compaction efficiency by minimizing the number of passes in order to reduce the risk of over compaction and material destruction. According to Case, the system also features documentation software for analyzing historical results/performance, and is compatible with mapping and guidance technologies from Topcon, Trimble, and Leica.
