Using a Tier 4-Final Cat C7.1 engine rated at 192 horsepower, the Cat 335F L CR excavator delivers a 16 percent improvement in fuel efficiency, compared with the 328D model it replaces. The compact-radius machine is made for heavy work on congested job sites, says cCterpillar, and when equipped with 33-inch track shoes, the 335F L CR limits over-the-side tail swing to 7 inches; a heavy counterweight is used to enhance overall stability and to provides lift capacities to 41,500 pounds. According to the company, the inherent fuel efficiency of the C7.1 is further enhanced with an automatic engine speed control (lowers engine rpm during no-load/light-load conditions), an engine idle shutdown system (stops the engine after a pre-set idling interval), and an ECO mode that allows operators to tailor machine performance to the application. The engine also runs efficiently on bio-diesel blends up to B20.
