The red transit bus shown lying among the fallen spans of Pittsburgh’s Fern Hollow Bridge has provided investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board some important clues on what caused the collapse earlier this year.
According to local news reports, cameras recorded images from behind and in front of the bus as it crossed the bridge, and reveal moments of collapse. The report says the images may give investigators clues into how and why the bridge fell into the ravine below.
Final determinations of what caused the collapse have not been made.
