The U.S. average per-gallon price of diesel fuel set an all-time high this week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Diesel rose 34.9 cents to $5.509 and is well above the $5.25 per gallon reported by EIA on March 14.
Compared to a year ago, the price for diesel fuel is up 75 percent, or $2.367 per gallon. Compared to last week, the price is up $0.349, or 6 percent.
The highest diesel prices were reported in California ($6.412 per gallon) and New England ($6.101).
