Infrastructure Dollars Stuck in Congress: Report

The Washington Post is reporting that congressional committees are delaying spending approved in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

According to the paper, billions of dollars are tied up because of caps in the current federal budget that limit how much money can be spent. Even though IIJA is now law, Congress holds the purse strings and must appropriate the money. Congress is operating under the previous year’s budget, which does not include IIJA’s increases in spending, according to the paper.
