Altorfer is leaving Elmhurst, Illinois, and opening locations elsewhere in the Chicago metropolitan area, according to the Chicago Tribune. Altorfer will build a service and repair facility in East Dundee, Illinois. The Iowa-based Caterpillar dealership also announced a rental branch opening in Naperville, Illinois.
Altorfer Rents, The Cat Rental Store, replaces the rental facility in Elmhurst and is slated for opening in the fall.
“The move will support future growth, efficiencies, and improve the customer experience throughout the territory,” Altorfer Rents VP Marty Hart said in a prepared statement. “This new location will increase our ability to support the needs of rental customers but also support all Altorfer customers as a local point of contact for parts pick-up / drop-off, new Cat Compact Equipment product viewing, and supplemental equipment needs. We’re excited to deliver the same great rental, parts, service, and sales solutions from our new and expanded facility in Naperville.”
The John Deere dealership in Naperville, West Side Tractor, is in the moving its headquarters to a 62,000-square-foot facility in neighboring Lisle, Illinois.
According to the Tribune report, Altorfer's East Dundee facility will cost $15 million to build, with the village providing a 60-percent tax rebate using tax increment financing, and 100 percent of the business development district sales tax.
Altorfer purchased the 23 acres required for the project from Plote Property Management.
